Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains how Room Sunlight Sim (the "App", "we", "our", or "us") collects, uses, stores, and shares information when you use the iOS app and related services.

Information We Collect

Depending on how you use the App, we may collect the following categories of information:

  • Account and sign-in data: if you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive information such as your display name, email address, and provider-linked user identifier so we can create and maintain your account.
  • Simulation inputs: we process the city or GPS location you choose, date and time selections, and room or window configuration inputs needed to calculate sun position and render sunlight patches.
  • AR-related data: if you use the AR feature, the App accesses the camera, device motion, and heading/orientation data so it can align a virtual room with your real space and render the simulated sunlight overlay.
  • Purchase and entitlement data: if you start a trial, buy Pro, or restore purchases, we process purchase status, trial eligibility, entitlement state, and transaction verification information required to unlock paid features.
  • Usage and telemetry data: we collect interaction events such as city searches, city selections, feature openings, AR entry, purchase flow events, and similar product-usage signals.
  • Device and app data: we collect technical information such as app version, build, platform, OS version, locale, time zone, and a device identifier made available by iOS for this app vendor. Some telemetry also uses a session identifier that resets on each app launch.

Permissions and On-Device Processing

Some App features use device permissions and local processing:

  • Location permission is optional. If you do not grant location access, you can still use the App by selecting a city manually.
  • Camera and motion access are used for the AR feature so the App can place and stabilize a virtual room and window against your real environment.
  • Our core AR experience is designed to process camera imagery on device for alignment and rendering. We do not use the camera feed for third-party advertising.

How We Use Your Information

We use collected information to operate and improve the App, including to:

  • calculate solar position and render 3D or AR sunlight simulations based on your chosen inputs;
  • authenticate your account and keep your profile, trial state, and Pro entitlement in sync across app sessions and supported devices;
  • process and restore purchases, verify entitlements, and prevent fraud or misuse of paid features;
  • understand feature usage, debug issues, maintain security, and improve product performance and usability;
  • respond to support requests and comply with legal obligations.

Tracking, Ads, and Selling Data

We do not use information collected through the App for third-party ad tracking, and we do not sell your personal information.

When We Share Information

We may share information only as needed to run the App and related services, for example with:

  • Apple and Google, when you choose their sign-in services for authentication;
  • Apple, when purchases, trials, restores, and refunds are handled through the App Store and StoreKit;
  • service providers or infrastructure vendors that help us host, secure, or operate the service on our behalf;
  • authorities or other parties when disclosure is required by law, regulation, legal process, or to protect rights, safety, or the integrity of the service.

Data Storage, Security, and Retention

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information. Account session data may be stored locally in the iOS Keychain, and app preferences or local scenario data may be stored on your device. Account, entitlement, and service telemetry data may be stored on our backend systems for as long as needed to provide the service, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, or comply with legal obligations.

Your Choices and Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights regarding your personal information. You may also control some data directly from your device settings or App usage choices.

  • You can deny or later revoke camera and location permissions in iOS Settings, although some features may no longer work fully.
  • You can avoid GPS access by selecting a city manually instead of using device location.
  • You can ask us to access, correct, or delete account-related personal data by contacting us.
  • Where applicable law grants additional rights, we will process eligible requests in accordance with that law.

Children's Privacy

The App is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, please contact us so we can review and delete it where appropriate.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will post the updated version here and update the "Last updated" date.
